REALTOR® Place Reconstruction August Update

Sep 02, 2026

Construction activity at REALTOR® Place continued at a steady pace throughout August, with significant progress made on interior finishes, millwork, flooring, lighting, building systems, and member-facing spaces. With each passing week, the vision for the renewed REALTOR® Place becomes clearer as offices, meeting spaces, and common areas continue to take shape.

Early in the month, work focused on completing drywall finishing, including boarding, mudding, taping, patching, sanding, priming, and painting. Final paint coats were applied throughout the boardroom, office areas, vestibule ceiling, and other interior spaces, helping transform construction zones into near-finished environments. Floor protection was also installed in the training room to support the next phases of work.

Construction also advanced in several feature areas that will serve members and staff every day. Ceiling grid installation progressed in the servery corridor and men's washroom, while supports were installed for the coffee bar's wood-slat ceiling feature. Cabinetry was delivered for the boardroom, training room, and copy room, with installation beginning shortly thereafter. Electrical contractors continued installing office data connections, workstation lighting, and other infrastructure to support modern, reliable operations throughout the building.

As August progressed, attention shifted increasingly toward finishes and commissioning activities. Mechanical contractors completed cooling commissioning of the rooftop HVAC units, an important milestone in preparing the building's environmental systems for occupancy, while heating commissioning remains to be scheduled. Electrical contractors continued installing lighting fixtures and preparing fire alarm devices for verification and testing. Flooring preparation and installation moved forward in the reception area, and painters completed final coats in office spaces.

Millwork activities delivered some of the month's most visible progress. Washroom vanities and training room cabinetry were installed, while the reception desk and feature wood wall were delivered to the site. Together with the completed painting, flooring, lighting, ceiling work, and building systems, these features are helping transform the space from a construction site into a welcoming environment designed to support member services, governance activities, professional development, collaboration, and industry engagement.

The progress completed throughout August highlights how much REALTOR® Place has evolved over the past several months. Many of the spaces are now beginning to reflect the look and feel members will experience when they return, and it is exciting to see the project entering its final stages.

MREA remains on track for a Fall 2026 return to REALTOR® Place. We sincerely appreciate our members' patience, understanding, and support throughout this reconstruction project. We look forward to welcoming you back to a modernized, collaborative, and member-focused facility that will serve the profession for many years to come. Stay tuned for more details!
