Real Estate Salesperson

To be registered as a real estate salesperson with The Manitoba Securities Commission (MSC), you must complete the Real Estate as a Professional Career program.

The program consists of four modules. Modules 1, 2 and 3 are self-study courses which you can complete at your own pace. Module 4 is a two-day classroom study course, followed by two online courses. You must successfully complete each module, consecutively, within a 16-month period.

Module 1

This course provides an introduction to the real estate profession, including the basics of real estate mathematics, property registry, planning, zoning, taxation, and residential building construction.

This course includes a final exam. You will need a mark of 70 per cent or greater to pass the exam. MREA hosts exams weekly at the MREA office, and in select locations outside of Winnipeg. See Exam Policies for further information on exam requirements and scheduling.

Module 2

This course concentrates on condominiums in Manitoba, contract law, agency fundamentals, mortgage financing and provincial statutory requirements.

This course includes a final exam. You will need a mark of 70 per cent or greater to pass the exam. MREA hosts exams weekly at the MREA office, and in select locations outside of Winnipeg. Module 3

Addresses FINTRAC, the Privacy Act, professional conduct, tenancy legislation, representing the seller, offer to purchase, representing the buyer, and real estate technology.

This course includes a final exam. You will need a mark of 70 per cent or greater to pass the exam. MREA hosts exams weekly at the MREA office, and in select locations outside of Winnipeg. See Exam Policies for further information on exam requirements and scheduling.

Module 4

Module 4 focuses on industry professionalism, proper completion of statutory and other forms, and the next steps after completion of the course work.

There is no exam for this course. You are required to attend the two-day classroom study course. Upon completion of the classroom study component, you are required to complete two online courses. MREA hosts Module 4 sessions monthly at the MREA office.

Registration with the MSC

Once you complete Module 4, you must secure employment. An employer’s signature is required on your application to register as a licensed salesperson with the MSC.

There are many brokerages throughout Manitoba. You should begin interviewing at brokerages during your studies to ensure that you secure employment within the required timeframe.

Once you secure employment, you may apply to register as a licenced salesperson with the MSC.

Application Deadline with the MSC

You must submit the Application for Registration – Real Estate Salesperson to the MSC within 12 months of completing Module 4.

How To Register

You can register for most courses offered by MREA in person, by phone, by mail, or by email. Course fees are payable by major credit card (VISA or MasterCard), cheque, cash, or money order.

Complete the required registration form Submit your completed registration form and payment Course materials are immediately available to those individuals registering in person. We will email you a link and password to access the online course resources, if applicable for the course you are registered in.
