Economic Development

We foster relationships with local businesses and the international REALTOR® community to showcase Manitoba as a thriving economic market for investment and growth, which supports a balanced and sustainable real estate market.

Global Business Council

On November 21, 2018, MREA launched the first global business council in Canada with inaugural chair Harry DeLeeuw.

Global business councils drive global business through networking, education, and economic development opportunities for REALTORS®. These councils work with economic development agencies and other partners to help support economic development efforts in their local regions. The first council started in the mid-1990s and today, there are 125 global business councils across the United States of America.

The MREA Global Business Council’s three strategic pillars intend to:

1. Engage and empower members to grow global business

2. Foster partnerships and strategic relationships

3. Drive thought leadership and advocacy

With over 1.4 million REALTORS® across North America, MREA members are part of a strong network of community leaders located throughout the continent. By forming a global business council, Manitoba REALTORS® demonstrate they are strong partners in attracting business and residents to the province, can provide market intelligence and strategic real estate insight, and are respected ambassadors in the international REALTOR® association community.

For more information on the MREA Global Business Council and MREA’s economic development efforts, please contact MREA’s Public Policy Manager, Mardi McNicoll, at mmcnicholl@mrea.mb.ca or at 204-772-0405.
