Highly trained workforce

Manitoba’s workforce is both well-educated and well-trained. This is due in part to the many opportunities for post-secondary education available to its residents. The province is home to four public universities—including Western Canada’s oldest—and three public colleges, plus a variety of vocational and polytechnical learning centres.

It’s worth noting that residents of Manitoba aren’t the only ones taking advantage of these educational opportunities: each year many thousands of international students choose to pursue their higher education at the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg and other such institutions in the province.

Roughly half of the working age population in Manitoba has some level of post-secondary education. As well, investments in workforce development, post-secondary education, and immigration—including a highly successful Provincial Nominee Program—help ensure a continuous supply of talented workers.
