Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger and Finance Minister Greg Dewar have officially proclaimed the first REALTOR® Week in Manitoba history.
A large group of REALTORS® gathered in the rotunda of the Manitoba Legislative Building last evening (Tuesday, October 27) for the surprise special announcement. It took place after Focus 2016; the Manitoba REALTOR® Network Symposium, a full day forward-thinking event with sessions and panels for about 200 REALTORS® wanting to engage with the Manitoba Real Estate Association towards building stronger Manitoba communities through provincial advocacy.
The official proclamation was signed by Greg Dewar, who read it aloud. “REALTORS® are hands-on community builders that contribute to the multi-billion dollar real estate industry in Manitoba by helping to support local and provincial economies through job creation and consumer spending,” Dewar said, before presenting the proclamation to Roberta Weiss, MREA’s 2015 president.
Weiss said there is no place more fitting to receive this honour than the Manitoba legislature, where important decisions which shape our communities are made.“This week is an opportunity for our profession to reflect upon on our community-building contributions,” Weiss said. “Most importantly, it’s a chance to focus forward on ways we can contribute to building a stronger Manitoba,” she said.
Premier Greg Selinger praised REALTORS® and the real estate industry for ongoing community and economic development contributions which support and enable a better quality of life for all Manitobans.
